Danyelle Townsend attended the University of Virginia Medical School, focusing on Cancer Biology and Drug Metabolism. She is currently the acting Department Co-Chair and Professor of Drug Discovery and Biomedical Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina and Director of the Analytical Redox Biochemistry Core. Her laboratory combines proteomics and analytical biochemistry to identify molecular targets of oxidative and nitrosative stress to determine how redox signaling impacts cellular response. Dr. Townsend's research on the redox proteome and associated pathways created a platform for drug discovery and redox biomarker development that has led to multiple clinical trials.
